History

The idea for developing this site came after I became frustrated with trying to find auctions in the local newspapers. At the time, I was looking specifically for antique signs, pre-1960’s Coleman lanterns, Coke machines, pre-1950’s toys, and needless to say, looking for these things outside of Ebay was difficult if not impossible. Sure, hit or miss, I was finding some of the items I was interested in, but not enough to satisfy the needs of a business I was contemplating.

What I needed couldn’t be found on the Internet. I’m sure there are trade magazines of some sort, or something along those lines that would make looking for auctions easier. However, as my time was limited, I turned to the web, as I often do—I think I would order breakfast from the web if I could.

Eureka!

Finally, what I was looking for: auction listings that covered a wider area, searchable auction inventories, auction dates, auctioneer listings, auction services, itemized sale bills, and all in one place. This was going to help me, and I used these auction-listing services a great deal. Sounds like the end of the story, doesn’t it?

Auctions Listings Made Easier

Okay, so I found what I was looking for: a way to find auctions. But of course, I started thinking of ways I could make this service better—auction-listing websites. I wanted to organize things into a cleaner, more polished format. I had been doing web design on an off for years, so this was right up my alley.

One of the things that I thought could be improved upon: SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Designing a website that will rank high in Google is very important. If you don’t, a beautifully designed site will languish 15 pages deep in Google, rendering it completely ineffective.

My goal is to design a site that is friendly to both auctioneers and auction hunters. Obviously, a site like this has to have both to succeed. I have been on auction-listing sites that do one or the other really well, but I have yet to find one that excels at both.

Our Mission

Much of what is mentioned in the previous section forms the basis of the mission here at IndianaAuctionList.com. Simply put, our mission is to provide a platform where the needs of auctioneers and auction hunters merge and become mutually beneficial.

To reiterate the mission into key points:

Auctioneers

Auction Hunters
